J36 Crooklands Livestock Auction: J36 Fortnightly Sale of Store Lambs, 2nd December 2021

An entry of 3169 store lambs were forward today, which was 700 more sold than at the same sale last year. There was a strong trade from start to finish, as to be expected for the time of year with a lot more smaller lambs forward, which met an impressive overall marked averaged of £85.47.
Once again stronger short keep lambs easily selling in excess of the £100 mark, with plenty of big lambs selling in the region of £125. Beltex lambs let the way selling to £130 from MA&JA Winn, Burneside. This was closely followed by Texel lambs selling to £127 from P Iverson, Penrith, £126 from Low Moor Howe, £123 from J&H Bland and Son, Levens, £122 from AJ&L Birkett, Little Langdale and £120 twice from JB Dixon, Grange Over Sands and E Robinson, Whinfell, with too many more to mention selling into the hundreds and teens.
Suffolk lambs peaked at £112 from J&H Bland & Son, Levens with others from the same home selling to £110, this was closely followed by £108.50 from AJ&SE Burrow, Milnthorpe. Mule lambs sold to a top of £111 from SJ&M Richardson & Son, Lupton, followed by others to £110.50 from RM&D Dixon, Longsleddale with pens of strong Mules regularly selling in excess of the one hundred pound mark with more long turn lambs on the market today. Horned lambs peaked at £89 for Scottish Blackfaces from MW Parsley, Tebay. Rough Fell lambs peaked at £84 from TLB&J Knowles, Selside. Swaledale lambs twice peaked at £77 from GA Guy, Tebay followed by others to £75 from SJ&M Richardson & Son, Lupton.
The next sale of store lambs is on Thursday 16th December with demand remaining very high.
